Alberto Aquilani has attracted attention from abroad

Fiorentina’s Alberto Aquilani is a summer target of clubs overseas, more specifically from clubs in the MLS. According to the agent of the Italian midfielder, Andrea D’Amico told the media that his client has turned into a player that clubs are interested in signing.

Aquilani is reaching his 31 years of age and it remains undecided if he wants or is able to continue performing in Fiorentina for a few more seasons. Reports are beginning to emerge that are linking Aquilani with a move to the young but quickly growing Major League Soccer.

The veteran midfielder has a contract with Fiorentina which expires at the end of June and now the player himself and his agent are starting to consider what to do. They could opt to negotiate a contract extension with Fiorentina or do what most high profile veteran players are doing and make a move to the American League.

Andrea D’Amico said: "We did speak to Fiorentina, but they are dealing with the coach problem, so have to wait. There is interest from abroad. His career speaks for itself, as he is only 31 years old and at the height of his physical vigor."

A few weeks ago Alberto Aquilani decided to make a switch of agents as his former agent was Franco Zavaglia but Aquilani opted to appoint Andrea D’Amico as his new representative and Andrea D’Amico already has a close relationship with clubs in the Major League Soccer as he was one of the main men behind Sebastian Giovinco’s transfer from Juventus to Toronto FC.

A similar fate might also occur with Aquilani as the player is starting to think about what to do, especially now that his contract with Fiorentina is reaching it’s final stages.
