LIVERPOOL – A TOP SELLING CLUB IN THE EUROPE

English Premier League side Liverpool have been named the topmost selling club in Europe, according to a report by CIES Football Observatory and Sportsmail.


The report disclosed the top ten clubs after considering the top five leagues in Europe and transfer dealing as far back as January 2010.

Chelsea placed 10th with their biggest sale being Brazilian defender £50 million when he moved to French giant Paris Saint Germain in 2014. The Blues sold Yuri Zhirkov, Kevin De Bruyne, Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku, Andre Schurrle, Ramires, Filipe Luis, Petr Cech and Mohammed Salah to make £300 million.

Real Madrid followed in 9th make £10 million more than Chelsea as they sold Angel di Maria, Alvaro Morata, Mesut Ozil, Gonzalo Higuain, and Jese. Roma followed in 8th as they made £1 million more than Real Madrid. Erik Lamela’s transfer to Spurs, Marquinhos’ to PSG, Medhi Benatia’s to Bayern and Miralem Pjanic earn them the most money.

Tottenham place 7th with £313 million, with Gareth Bales’s £86 million transfer obviously bringing in the most money for the North London club. Luka Modric’s sale to same Real Madrid brought on £25 million. La Liga side Atletico Madrid place 6th with £319 million with Radamel Falcao transfer being the biggest. Sergio Aguero’s deal to Man City earned them £34 million, Felipe Luiz, Diego Costa, Jackson Martinez, and Arda Turan also brought in serious money.

Porto, Benfica, Juventus, and Valencia join Liverpool in the top five. Porto’s biggest deal being James Rodriguez for £38.25 million, Benfica’s being Renato Sanchez’s deal to Bayern Munich in 2016, Juventus earning £89 million for Paul Pogba as the biggest deal while Valencia earn £34.9 million from the sale of Shkodran Mustafi to Arsenal this summer. Liverpool’s biggest deal remains £75 million for Luis Suarez. The Reds have earned £384 million within the same period as others as they sold Fernando Torres, Raul Meireles, Alberto Acquilani, Jonjo Shelvey, Stewart Downing, Fabio Borini, Lago Aspas, Raheem Sterling, Christian Benteke, Joe Allen, Jordon Ibe and a few others.
