Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani came through the youth system at capital club AS Roma and he was attracting interest from the Premier League teams. Alberto Aquilani stayed with the Roma youth team despite the interest from the Premier League duo of Arsenal and Chelsea.
Aquilani made his debut for the first team at Roma at the age of 17. His first game was against Torino on May 10, 2002 under the guidance of Fabio Capello and it ended in a 3-1 win for Roma. Alberto Aquilani was sent on loan to fellow Italian team Triestina for the whole duration of the 2003/04 season so as to gain valuable first team experience.
