Aleksandar Kolarov has no plans of retirement in the near future

AS Roma defender Aleksandar Kolarov has clearly stated that he has no plans of retirement in the near future. The Serbian has been with the Giallorossi for the past three seasons and during this period, he has been a regular presence on the left side of the backline and has also managed to provide an attacking threat with impressive freekicks.

Speaking to reporters, Kolarov said that he is pleased with the Giallorossi’s current form and appreciated the efforts of Paulo Fonseca in transforming the club’s fortunes. He added that he has no plans of stepping down from the game at the moment and could prolong his career for another four years at the least.

He told: “It’s a positive moment for us, we’re playing well and must continue like this. It’s an honour and I’m proud to be here at 34 years of age, but I am especially happy for Roma. I’ll play another 4 years tranquilly. Fonseca? I like this idea of football, how he explains to us how we must play and his determination.”

Roma started the season uncharacteristically with a couple of draws but they have since found their feet with regular victories. Moreover, their form has been particularly enhanced during the backend of October and a run of five wins from six league matches sees them within goal difference off the Champions League places.

For the forthcoming game, they are scheduled to face league leaders Inter Milan on the road but they should go into the game with plenty of positivity given they have succumbed to just one loss over the past month. Elsewhere, they have generally performed impressively against the table-toppers and the last three meetings with the Nerazzurri have ended in score draws. Roma are currently nine points off the top of the table.
