AC Milan’s run of three consecutive victories came to an end

AC Milan’s run of three consecutive victories came to an end after they could manage only a 0-0 draw against Atlanta at home.

This was a disappointing result for the home team, but manager Sinisa Mihajlovic felt that the solitary point itself was lucky. He had seen Atlanta dominate the game and could have easily won it in the 90 minutes. There was a huge positive for Milan in the form of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is just 16 years old. Based this performance on, one can believe that the youngster has the capability to become the backbone of Milan for a decade.

After being criticised about their age for several years, Milan are finally switching to the youth. This has been paying dividends withMihajlovic getting the team to sixth place after this draw. Maintaining this position will be key but it is easier said than done. Milan are up against Juventus next week. This will be a very tough match since Juventus appear to have regained their form. They are not close to challenging for the title just yet, but they will certainly be a threat for Milan’s sixth spot.Mihajlovic continues to remain upbeat and claims that the title is not the priority now. Instead, Milan are targeting a return to the Champions League.

"This is a Milan with the quality to target our objective, which is the top three. It seems a bit premature to talk about targets and ambitions when we're 12 rounds in.We were certainly lucky to scrape a point, as we were not the same side that beat Lazio. I don't want to look for excuses, but we were missing Jack Bonaventura, Andrea Bertolacci and Alex, who until now have been some of our best performers. The replacements hadn't played much this season,” said the Milan manager.
