Alberto Aquilani has taken time to discuss situation

Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani has taken time to discuss situation in the Italian league, which is turning out into a fascinating competition for the league title.

Juventus looked seemingly out of the title race after just a few weeks. However, they have now returned firmly back into contention after several weeks of good form. Aquilani says that it would be foolish to rule out Juventus, who have won the league title for the last four seasons in succession. However, he also reckons that Fiorentina and Inter Milan appear to be ready for a fight till the end.

Sampdoria’s form worsened a lot with the latest 3-1 loss

Sampdoria’s form worsened a lot with the latest 3-1 loss against Sassuolo ensuring a fourth consecutive defeat for the Italian club.

Manager Vincenzo Montella has failed to bring an improvement in form after taking over as the manager in November. However, he has been able to escape some of the criticism due to the awareness that the squad needs an overhaul. This revamp is expected to arrive in January, as the club are likely to bankroll significant additions to improve the squad according to the needs of the new manager. Alberto Aquilani could be one of the names coming to the club in January if reports are to be believed.

AC Milan’s run of three consecutive victories came to an end

AC Milan’s run of three consecutive victories came to an end after they could manage only a 0-0 draw against Atlanta at home.

This was a disappointing result for the home team, but manager Sinisa Mihajlovic felt that the solitary point itself was lucky. He had seen Atlanta dominate the game and could have easily won it in the 90 minutes. There was a huge positive for Milan in the form of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is just 16 years old. Based this performance on, one can believe that the youngster has the capability to become the backbone of Milan for a decade.

The decline of the Milan clubs is major talking point

The decline of the Milan clubs – Inter Milan and AC Milan – has been one of the major talking points in recent years.

After sharing a number of titles between them in the last decade, they are no longer in contention for the top honours. In fact, it may take a while before they even get into the position of challenging for the title. Inter manager Roberto Mancini, however, is convinced that the duo will return back much stronger in the coming seasons. Inter have already made substantial investment in the transfer window. They would expect a return on the signings made.

Alberto Aquilani has attracted attention from abroad

Fiorentina’s Alberto Aquilani is a summer target of clubs overseas, more specifically from clubs in the MLS. According to the agent of the Italian midfielder, Andrea D’Amico told the media that his client has turned into a player that clubs are interested in signing.

Aquilani is reaching his 31 years of age and it remains undecided if he wants or is able to continue performing in Fiorentina for a few more seasons. Reports are beginning to emerge that are linking Aquilani with a move to the young but quickly growing Major League Soccer.

Alberto Aquilani may move to play MLS

There have been intense rumours linking former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani with a move to play in the MLS. The North American football league has been getting a number of high profile players in the last few months.

The arrival of names like Kaka, Steven Gerrard, and Frank Lampard has helped raise the profile of the league once again. This could be enough to convince Aquilani, who is set to be a free agent in the summer, into a move. The 30-year-old’s contract comes to an end this season but there have been no signs from Fiorentina that they would like to extend the deal.

Alberto Aquilani wants to prove himself against Spurs

Alberto Aquilani is not taking the coming Europa League fixture versus the Spurs as one to prove himself in.

He sees it as just another match for him in the Fiorentina outfit.

There is no doubt that the match is vital, for Fiorentina and for Aquilani too, but, being the wily customer that he is, the Italian does not want to get pressurized by over thinking about it.

Of course the fact that he has played quite a lot of big matches already in his career also helps.

He knows what to do ahead of such matches and how to be fresh by switching off from the game for a while.

Also, Fiorentina has a bit of an advantage having stopped Tottenham on a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the tie which was played at White Hart Lane.

Vincenzo Montella doubtful to continue with Fiorentina

The Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani is a regular starter for Vincenzo Montella at Fiorentina as the player has started in all of the matches of this season in the Italian League.

Despite being a consistent player for Fiorentina, it’s unclear as if Aquilani wants to continue playing at the club and this is due to the fact that when his transfer from Liverpool to Fiorentina was completed, Aquilani stated that the only reason on why he failed on making a permanent move to Ac.Milan or Juventus was because of the excessive price that Liverpool had placed on him.

Alberto Aquilani criticizes Sampdoria Pitch

Former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has branded the pitch at Sampdoria as one of the worst he has ever played on.

The former Italian international recently took to the field with his Fiorentina teammates for the match against Sampdoria. Fiorentina are once again having top three ambitions this season. They have done well under Vincenzo Montella and are currently in the top 10 of the table. However, their Champions League ambitions suffered a huge blow after a 3-1 defeat. The defeat means that they are in the bottom half of the table with only one win in the last five.

VIOLA NET WIN

Fiorentina sealed their first victory of the season in the Serie A after defeating Atalanta with a narrow score of 1-0. This triumph came at a cost for Fiorentina as Mario Gomez picked up an injury that will be leaving him out of action for around 3 weeks according to the medical staff of the Italian club.

A statement from the official website of Fiorentina stated: "ACF Fiorentina can confirm that in the closing stages of the Atalanta v Fiorentina match, Mario Gomez sustained a grade one injury to the myotendinous junction of the flexor tendons in his right thigh. Gomez has already started treatment on the injury, and will undergo more tests in 10 days. He is expected to return to full fitness within three weeks."
