AQUILANI SAYS LIVERPOOL DID NOT DO ENOUGH BUSINESS

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EusJC4GXEAYubeO.jpg
Former Liverpool player Alberto Aquilani has questioned the club’s transfer business and insists that they have not done enough to prove that they are ready to compete with their rivals. The Reds were only able to sign one player during the entire summer transfer window and let go of up to three players who were registered under them as first-team stars, meaning that they lost more players than they signed and it’s not something that Aquilani sees as good business. Liverpool completed the signing of French defender Ibrahima Konate from German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig this summer and it was their only addition to the squad.

However, they allowed midfielder Giorgio Wijnaldum to leave the club and sign for French Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain after they failed to reach an agreement with him over a contract renewal. They also allowed defender Ozan Kabak to return to parent club Schalke 04 after the player spent the entirety of last season on loan at Anfield following their decision to not sign him on a permanent contract.

AQUILANI BACKS VAN DIJK TO HAVE A GREAT CAMPAIGN NEXT SEASON

When Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk got injured at the beginning of last season, a lot of people immediately started thinking that maybe his career would be greatly affected because of the severity of the problem. While they saw that there were very huge chances of him returning to full fitness, they still held a notion that maybe the injury was a career-threatening one and an example is the one suffered by Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw some years ago. Although the United star’s injury was quite a horrible one, he has recovered so well from it and has now taken his football to a whole new level of brilliance.

Virgil van Dijk was missed by Liverpool last season at the heart of their defense as they conceded a couple of goals and also committed a lot of defensive errors – something Van Dijk rarely did on the pitch. After a long injury lay-off, the Netherlands international star is now back to full fitness and has marked his return with a match against Hertha Berlin in a pre-season friendly game for the Reds. His return to fitness is a huge boost for Liverpool, who will now try to keep him fit as much as possible ahead of the new season because being one of their most important players, they need him and his services as much as they needed him last season.

Former player Alberto Aquilani has now hailed the defender’s return to full fitness and has urged the former Southampton man to return to his own best or even move beyond it.

Aquilani says that Van Dijk is already one of the best central defenders in the world and having him come back from his injury is a big blessing for Liverpool because he has returned to put every one of their defensive plans in place ahead of the new season.

AQUILANI SAYS RAMOS IS THE BEST-EVER DEFENDER

It is a tough task to point out the best defender ever in the entire history of football, especially when there have been the likes of Zanetti, Bonucci, Marco Van Basten, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Fabio Cannavaro, and a lot of others who have graced the game in the last years. However, it is also safe to mention that Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has steadily and consistently built a credible reputation for himself as not just one of the best players in his era, but also one of the best defenders to have ever played the game as well.

Signed from Sevilla 16 years ago by Real Madrid, Ramos went from not getting enough chance to become a starter at the club to becoming their legend and one of the club’s most decorated players in their history judging by the number of trophies he has won at the club. It’s quite hard these days to find a player spending as many as 16 years at the same club and truth be told, Real Madrid also do not have that much of the luxury of patience for players to stay at the club for that long; at least not in this era.

Ramos is a well-recognized and famous beast in form of a defender and he is also one of the most fierce-looking players you can find around as well, which raises the question of why Florentino Perez is allowing the Spanish defender to quit the club.

Having drawn a lot of praise from some of his past colleagues and even rivals, Ramos has deserved every bit of those accolades. And now, his fellow compatriot, former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has hailed the former Sevilla man, insisting that he’s the best defender ever.

Aquilani says he pays respect to every other greats of the past years, but he believes Ramos comes out on top above others because he has won every trophy there is to win for both club and country.

AQUILANI SAYS LIVERPOOL CAN WIN THE LEAGUE NEXT SEASON

Former Liverpool star Alberto Aquilani has backed his former side to make a strong push for the English Premier League title next season. The former attacker says that he knows the Reds struggled a lot last season particularly in the league but Insists that they have a huge chance to bounce back from their poor campaign and challenge for the league crown next season.

Toward the end of the past two seasons, many would have backed Liverpool to replicate their fine form and make a huge claim for the title but the reverse was the case. They had a terrible season and eventually had to be battling for a top-four finish toward the end of the past campaign. Although most of their failures last season could be traced to the fact that they suffered a lot of injuries to some of their star players, but they still fell short in their attack as their strikers and forwards failed to make the most of their chances.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino were all firing blank and failed to come up with the goods, making the Reds suffer by losing matches in the process. However, according to Aquilani, Liverpool’s troubles last season were just a sign that they should always be ready for anything that could be thrown at them.

The former forward said that he knows Liverpool well and they have a great squad of top football starts that can start next campaign on the front foot and challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.

Aquilani says Klopp only needs to sign a few more players that will make the squad even more formidable so they will have an increased chance of enjoying incredible progress and success in the coming campaign.

AQUILANI: LIVERPOOL MUST KEEP HOLD OF SALAH

According to former Liverpool player Alberto Aquilani, the club must do everything it takes to ensure that they keep hold of star forward Mohamed Salah. There have been a lot of reports and rumors linking the Egyptian forward to an exit from Anfield this summer, and it has attracted a lot of reaction from the Reds’ fans who have all unanimously called on the club to make sure they tie the winger to a new contract.

Salah and Liverpool are both at the risk of missing out on Champions League football for next season as they continue to struggle to break into the top four in the English Premier League table so far. The club that have been linked to the signing of the former AS Roma star are Barcelona, with the Spanish La Liga giants interested in adding him to their attack ahead of next season.

But Aquilani has expressed his opinion on the issue insisting that Liverpool have a job on their hands to try and convince their star forward to commit his future to the club instead of allowing him to attract interest from other clubs. The former Reds star said although Salah has not been as prolific as he was in the previous campaign, he is still a huge asset and will boost the attacking threat of the Anfield club as well.

Salah’s Liverpool attacking partner, Sadio Mané has also been linked with an exit as he is also struggling to replicate his last season’s form, and Aquilani says Liverpool can’t even afford to lose any of the players, let alone both of them.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will also look forward to convincing his two best players to remain at the club as he needs them to continue building his legacy as one of the best managers the club have ever had in their history.
